Upcoming trip alert!

It's been a while since I've gone anywhere particularly exciting. I visited the California Redwoods over Labor Day weekend last year, and I did the Wild Rogue Relay and hung with the Wulffs in San Diego, but I haven't left the country in almost two years, which is a bit sad.

But that's about to change.

I'm going to Ecuador, baby!

A little backstory: My friend from college, Patrice, is in the Peace Corps down there helping teach English. I miss her, and I've got the travel itch to experience something new. South America was never very high on my list of places to visit, but now that I've been looking into it, there's a lot of really neat stuff down there. I'll see the Andes up close, I'll explore one of the world's highest capitals, and I'll get to hike through a tropical rain forest!

I'm very familiar with temperate rain forests, but this is unexplored territory for me.

Time to stock up on bug spray and yellow fever vaccinations. Plane departs April 8. Stay tuned!
